Akanji to undergo surgery and miss up to 10 weeks
It has been confirmed that Borussia Dortmund defender Manuel Akanji will undergo surgery on his knee and is expected to miss up to 10 weeks of action.
The Swiss international has been a key player for Dortmund this season, but will now face an extended spell on the sidelines as he recovers from the operation.
Akanji sustained the knee injury during training and after consulting with medical experts, the decision was made for him to go under the knife to repair the damage.
This news comes as a blow to Dortmund who are currently competing for the top spot in the Bundesliga and are also in the midst of a Champions League campaign.
Akanji’s absence will be a big loss for the team, as he has been a rock at the back and a leader on the pitch for them.
The defender will now focus on his recovery and rehabilitation in order to return to action as soon as possible.
In the meantime, Dortmund will have to cope without one of their key players and find a way to fill the void left by Akanji’s absence.
We wish Manuel Akanji a speedy recovery and hope to see him back on the pitch soon.
Stay tuned for further updates on Akanji’s recovery and return to action.
